For the second year in a row, Bike-Aid will visit Kansas City. A team of 21 students from colleges and universities across America and around the world will start pedaling from San Francisco on June 17, bound for Washington, DC, where they will arrive on August 20. They will arrive on the campus of Central Baptist Seminary, 741 N. 31st St, Kansas City, Kansas on July 25. They will spend two nights at the Seminary, sandwiched around a workday on campus helping Central get ready for their Centennial Celebration. Bike-Aid is a cross country bicycle tour which combines global education, service learning, community living, physical challenge, fundraising and the chance to learn about yourself and the world around you.
I plan to meet the team in Manhattan, Kansas and spend the night with them at Flint Hills Job Corps Center. Dorothy Mitchell is Center Director and has offered the Center as our host for the night. I will ride with the team the next day to Lawrence, where we spend the night. Then into Kansas City and onto the campus of Central Seminary for two nights. I will bike with the team to Warrensburg on July 27th, where Beth Tankersley has arranged for Central Missouri State University to host us.
